As part of the 2024 Annual Meeting of SETAC
GLB and the Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology Division of the German Chemical Society (GDCh), a field
demonstration day took place yesterday, September 10th, 2024, at the Research Center Neu-Ulrichstein. Over 30 stations showcased methods for regulatory (semi-)field studies. The tier3-team participated with 4 stations, presenting the following topics:
Honeybee, bumblebee, and mason bee studies
Bird studies
Small mammal as well as
rabbit/hare studies
Evaluation of mesocosms
Right on time for the start of the event, the drizzle stopped, allowing all participants to
fully immerse themselves in discussions and conversations well into the evening while gaining first-hand experience through practical exercises.
The over 1-ha demonstration area
was equipped with nicely arranged lounge chairs and seating areas at the coffee stands, inviting attendees to network in a friendly atmosphere. However, our diligent tier3 team had no time to
relax, as the high level of interest meant that even the scheduled coffee breaks were used to continue lively discussions and demonstrations with the engaged audience, which included students,
lecturers, consultants, and representatives from industry and regulatory authorities.
A big thank you for the great interest in our presentations. Special
thanks go to the FNU organizing team for their efforts in creating such a pleasant atmosphere.
