Beginning of September 2024 marks the first Expert Workshop hosted by the German Environment Agency (UBA). The workshop is dedicated to the much-needed revision of OECD Document No. 54. Originally published in 2006, this document has been instrumental in guiding the statistical analysis of ecotoxicity data. However, with the rapid advancements in statistical methods and ecological understanding, it’s time for an update.
The workshop aims to identify key areas for revision and to discuss how to provide clearer and more actionable guidance for both statisticians and ecotoxicologists. Topics on the agenda include
revisiting hypothesis testing methods, updating dose-response modelling approaches, as well as making the document more accessible to non-statisticians.
This is an important step forward in ensuring that the assessment of chemical effects on non-target organisms is based on the most current and robust scientific methods.
With his wealth of experience and knowledge, tier3 colleague Heino Christl will participate in this workshop and support the revision of the OECD No. 54 test guideline.
Looking forward to the insights and outcomes that will emerge from this collaborative effort!
